Product Information
Cardiva Tablet is indicated for Integrated Dual Antiplatelet Therapy (IDAPT) in adults with Acute Coronary Syndrome (ACS).
Uses
The tablet is used to reduce the risk of heart attack and stroke in some patients with acute coronary syndrome, including those who have recently had a heart attack or stroke. It also reduces the risk of death from another cardiovascular event.
Benefits
The tablet helps improve blood flow by preventing platelets from clumping together and forming blood clots. It may reduce the risk of further cardiovascular episodes associated with ACS such as heart attack or stroke.
Side Effects
Common side effects include nausea and indigestion, dizziness, headache, abdominal pain, diarrhea, rash and swelling. Rare but serious side effects may include life threatening bleeding episodes or allergic reactions which require medical attention.
How it Works
Cardiva tablet works by blocking the action of an enzyme called cyclooxygenase -1 which causes platelets to clump together and form a clot that can block arteries which carry oxygen to the heart muscle or brain resulting in a heart attack or stroke.
The aspirin component also prevents this clotting process by inhibiting thromboxane production thus reducing the risk of a recurrent cardiac event or stroke.
